ICP Group Quality Control Chemist in Waukegan, Illinois
Purpose & Scope:
Reporting to the Site General Manager, with a dotted line reporting relationship into the VP of R&D, The Quality Control Chemist will have responsibility, along with co-workers in the Quality Control Lab, for the implementation and continuous improvement of the Waukegan plant's analytical quality systems, processes and supporting records. He/she will use technical expertise, knowledge of the coatings business, and an understanding of company goals to work with Operations, the Corporate Quality Manager and R&D to ensure product quality. The QC Chemist will ensure compliance with regulatory and customer requirements and work with the site management to make these systems consistent, practical, and cost effective.
Maintain accurate and functional quality records, instructions, and manuals in compliance with ICC, ISO, and ICP's standards as required.
Produce precise, accurate, and timely test and calibration data.
Recommends batch adjustments based on inspection and history.
Carries out batch adjustments on the manufacturing floor.
Test production batches using standard operating procedures and recording results.
Approves batches for filling.
Maintains product retains.
Monitors and approves products, investigate analytical discrepancies as required to ensure that only products that meet company, customer and regulatory specifications are released.
Ensures the timely and proper release of products based on effective sampling and accurate and appropriate testing using Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP), Good Laboratory Practices (GLP) and all safety requirements.
Ensures that non-routine testing is performed in a timely manner.
As appropriate, provides training and technical support to operators in the use of applicable analytical equipment and methodologies.
Analyze, evaluates and implements recommendations on product quality attributes.
Other duties as assigned.
B.S.in Chemistry or comparable technical discipline.
Some experience in QC in a factory production environment is a plus.
Experience with Gas Chromatography and Titration Methods a plus.
Familiarity with laboratory/plant manufacturing environments.
Excellent problem-solving skills.
Sound technical ability and experience.
Good computer skills.
Experience with statistical methods is a plus.
