Vista Health System is a community healthcare provider; a network that includes Vista Medical East campus and the Vista Lindenhurst campus that includes Vista Ambulatory Care Center, Lindenhurst Surgery Center, LLC, a freestanding Emergency Center and the Medical Office Building. The Vista Health system also has several locations for imaging, patient therapy and physician offices throughout Lake County, Illinois.

Vista Health System is looking for a Credentialing Coordinator in our Medical Staff office. The Medical Staff Coordinator performs credentialing responsibilities in an expeditious manner to bring on new physicians and allied health professionals (practitioners), maintain current practitioner status and to report concerns about the hospital s liability with credentials issues. This position also helps to coordinate educational programs for medical staff as well.

Responsibilities:

  • Keeping updated on medical licensing and certification requirements

  • Understanding current healthcare laws and regulations

  • Auditing paperwork such as applications and licensing documentation for accuracy

  • Processing requests for, and monitors duration of, temporary privileges in accordance with medical staff bylaws

  • Compiles and maintains current and accurate data for all providers.

  • Completes provider credentialing and re-credentialing applications; monitors applications and follows-up as needed

  • Maintains copies of current state licenses, DEA certificates, malpractice coverage and any other required credentialing documents for all providers.

  • Maintains corporate provider contract files.

  • Maintains knowledge of current health plan and agency requirements for credentialing providers.

  • Sets up and maintains provider information in online credentialing databases and system.

  • Updates physician information in hospital information systems, respond to verification requests, and perform file audits

  • Provides technical and administrative support to the credentials committee and the medical staff committees and informal (respectively) peer review activities and any other committee as required.

  • Performs the re-credentialing/privilege delineation activities in accordance with Medical Staff Bylaws to assure that only qualified practitioners continue to provide care at Vista Health.

  • Tracks license and certification expirations for all providers to ensure timely renewals.

  • Audits health plan directories for current and accurate provider information.

  • Communicate well, both with team members, practitioners, all levels of hospital staff and multiple outside agencies (i.e. state, federal, insurance, etc.).

  • Maintains personal adherence to professional confidentiality standards

  • Updates physician information in hospital information systems, respond to verification requests, and perform file audits

  • Assures regulatory compliance with The Joint Commission and all other regulatory agencies.

  • Coordinates educational programs for medical staff. Plans, executes and manages all CME activities for medical staff. Identify and define the educational needs of the medical staff and ensure that CME topics reflect these educational needs

Qualifications

Qualifications:

  • Education requirements – Bachelor s Degree preferred

  • CertifiedProvider Credentialing Specialist ( CPCS ) orCertified Professional Medical Services Management ( CPMSM )

  • A minimum of three years Credentialing experience in a hospital environment

  • Outstanding track record with TJC surveys
