We have an exciting opportunity for a Logistics Manager to manage and effectively lead the US covid test finished goods fulfillment to end customers. This position will have responsibility for inbound transportation of finished goods from the manufacturing sites to the distribution center, and outbound transportation for fulfillment to the end customers. This includes excellence in achieving KPIs resulting in meeting/exceeding end customer expectations for order fulfillment. Position will work in a matrixed cross functional arrangement with customer service, BU Supply Chain planning and 3PL providers including distribution center and transportation providers. Position will be responsible for transportation spend, continuous improvement, operations efficiency and long-term network strategy.

  • Responsible for inbound andoutbound transportation logistics of ARDx US covid tests. Performance will be measured by SOW, SOP, establishedKPIs and achieving annual budget

  • Responsible for inboundtransportation management of designated 3PL provider from manufacturinglocations to distribution center

  • Responsible for outboundtransportation management of designated 3PL provider from distribution centerto end customers

  • Problem solving forunexpected urgent situations such as manufacturing constraints, same daycustomer deliveries, late product arrivals etc. Arrangements for high priority ad hocshipments with 3PL providers and monitoring shipment through successfuldelivery

  • Position will work closelywith internal and external manufacturing sites to establish and maintain SOPsto govern pick-up and transportation of finished products inbound to thedistribution center. Responsible formonitoring performance against SOPs and driving continuous improvement. Serves as liaison between manufacturing sitelogistics contacts and 3PL providers

  • Collaborate with ARDx crossfunctional teams to ensure customer fulfillment meets and exceeds expectationsas measured by established KPIs. Crossfunctional teams include manufacturing operations, customer service, BU demandplanning, BU supply planning and corresponding leadership

  • Interface with ARDxcustomer service to resolve outbound transportation issues challenges andmonito hot shipments

  • Conducts QBRs with keysuppliers and acts as point of contact to our suppliers on all operational andrate related items

  • Responsible for supplierrelationship management both at day to day execution level and broaderstrategic level.

  • Generate analysis ofmultiple data and factors related to the division’s transportation network (i.eservice optimization, mode optimization, broker vs asset, freight spend).Collaborate within global logistics and warehouse teams to develop long rangestrategic plan in alignment with executive and senior management strategies andrelated division objectives

  • Create visibility tools andreports to monitor transportation service performance and spend

  • Collaborate with customerservice and 3PL to ensure timely and accurate reporting of proof of deliveryand freight costs for shipments to the U.S. Government

  • Primary stakeholder anddecision maker in the negotiation of key contracts with transportationproviders and periodic annual bid process

  • Assures adherence to Abbottlegal and risk management policies


  • Incumbent reports to SeniorManager Logistics Operations. Interacts with 3PL management team, CustomerService, ARDx Manufacturing team leadership, BU Finance, BU SC and Planningteam, Diagnostics Commercial team leadership and cross ARDx logistics team

  • Accountable for leadership andmanagement to deliver customer fulfillment operations within the ARDx Quality,Regulatory and Security system requirements aligned with US (and OUS iffulfillment occurs) requirements. Responsible for maintaining alignment andobtaining best practices with other Abbott divisions and global logistics team

  • Ongoing interface/alignmentwith Corporate Logistics and senior management from outsidetransportation/logistics suppliers and vendors for negotiation of key contracts

  • Accountability for accuratebudget analysis and savings tracking including; freight, inter-companyallocations, product standard cost, fuel surcharges and negotiations / approvalof global contracts. Assures Code of Conduct and Financial standards are met

  • Responsible for managing $75+MM in freight spend. The position hasresponsibility for effective interaction and communication across theenterprise including management to operations level. There is regularinteraction with groups outside of Logistics. The position interfaces withcustomer service; planning; regulatory; quality assurance; manufacturing;engineering; finance; and human resources. The position presents budgets; freightplans; and new ideas to the Senior Manager Logistics Operations for review and execution


Bachelor’s degree Business Administration; Supply Chain; Finance; Logistics Management

Master’s degree: Business Administration; Supply Chain; Finance; Logistics Management

Advanced degree: Desirable. MBA; Masters; etc.

Other: Distribution-Logistics and/or Supply Chain certifications desirable

  • Minimum of 5 years inSupply Chain, Logistics and/or Operations

  • Highly preferred experienceincludes management of 3PL providers; warehouse operations; sourcing andprocurement of logistics services.Experience with FTL, LTL, and small parcel modes highly preferred

  • Experience may also includemanufacturing or distribution environment; knowledge of financial informationand process; knowledge of materials and inventory computer systems: thoroughunderstanding of Abbott planning / inventory management or distributionsystems; demonstrated project leadership; exposure to and understanding ofinternational affiliate operations and their needs and regulations

  • Proficiency in commonprogram management communication software tools (i.e. MS Project, PowerPoint,MS Word, Excel, etc.)

  • Experienced inproviding/articulating key components of financial analysis including Profit& Loss statement and Balance Sheet
