DMD Marketing Product Owner-Data in Rosemont, Illinois
The Data Product Owner is responsible for prioritizing and maintaining the Data Product backlog and collaborating on the creation of roadmap initiatives to ensure the successful development and delivery of key data products and features. The successful management and organization of these data products will support strategic capabilities across multiple DMD product-lines and product teams, and positively impact the financial and operational performance of DMD Marketing Corporation.
The Data Product Owner will be part of a dedicated Scrum Team of developers, quality assurance, and Scrum Masters and also work closely with their Data Product team members, which include Product Managers, Sales and Customer Success. The Product Owner will take ownership for key outcomes by translating business goals and objectives into iterative deliverables, prioritizing the roadmap backlog to achieve optimal delivery, and communicating risks, status, and targets to the organization.
Essential Job Responsibilities
Provides strategic input to Product Managers and Management Team in the prioritization and development of the Data Products Roadmap
Converts Roadmap Initiatives (Epics) into consumable User Stories, with well-defined Product Requirements and Acceptance Criteria, and actively manages and prioritizes the resulting Product Backlog
Communicates the Product Vision to the Engineering Teams; as well as Roadmap Initiative delivery updates to the Product Management Team
Actively participates in Scrum events - Daily Standups, Sprint Planning, Backlog Refinement, Team Retrospectives and Sprint Reviews
Provides input on Data Process and supports the implementation of DMD’s Data Quality platform, including collaboration with the Data Production team in Data Operations
Actively communicates the business needs in a manner which connects the teams to the value of the work they are delivering
Works proactively to ensure DMD’s data products are highly reliable, scalable, and cost effective
Develops deep expertise in DMD’s products and operations, and work proactively to resolve identified data quality issues
Utilizes extensive cross-organization collaboration (across multiple business units and team boundaries) in order to share common infrastructure and functional capabilities, and identify new data opportunities and requirements
Works directly with Product Management, Account Services, Tech Services and Customer Success, and Quality Assurance teams to execute the defined product roadmap, while utilizing Scrum framework
Seeks both internal and external client perceptions of value delivered, adjusting overall quality methodologies and strategy to ensure value delivery
Explains difficult or sensitive information in a diplomatic way, working to build consensus among the product owners and team members.
Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Business, Information Systems, Engineering, or Technology
3-5+ years as a Product Owner on a Scrum Team
2+ years’ experience in data quality, business intelligence, analysis and reporting projects
Experience with querying and reporting data from relational and non-relational databases
Understanding of Data Technologies and Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC)
Experience with various Business Intelligence and Data Visualization tools such as Tableau, Crystal, or similar
General understanding of Big Data Concepts and Cloud Computing is encouraged
Proven track record of multi-disciplinary team leadership and ability to communicate data related concepts to a broad range of technical and non-technical team members
Experience with drafting requirements for system-to-system integrations
Excellent decision-making and presentation skills, with the ability to interface directly with multiple business units including technology, operations, and marketing teams
Certified Scrum Master and/or Certified Product Owner is a plus
Experience with Atlassian products (e.g. JIRA, Service Desk and Confluence) is preferred

Excellent verbal and written communication, meeting facilitation, and problem-solving skills
A successful candidate must possess excellent oral, written, and visual communication skills, including a background in Data Strategy, Big Data (e.g. Data Lakes, Data Warehouses), or Data Product Development and Commercialization.
The candidate must be a self-starter, and possess a strong leadership character with ability to collaborate with other product owners, product managers, and various team members.
