Description of Position:
A member of the Nursing Administration team, provide professional secretarial and administrative support to the Vice President of Patient Services. Direct, coordinate, and provide administrate support functions for the Vice President of Patient Services’ office and activities. Provides excellent customer service to customers in contact with.

Clerical/ Departmental Support
Supports department staff, director, organization, and medical staff by carrying out activities as assigned.
Communicates appropriately and clearly to the charge nurse, department directors, shift director s, co-workers and providers.
Exercises independent judgement and discretion in performing tasks and to work independently.
Performs specialized office support tasks that require previous knowledge of department and/or organization procedures.
Participates/serves on multidisciplinary hospital committees and attends meetings as assigned by the Director of Emergency Care.
Ability to plan, organize and coordinate departmental processes in order to provide high quality services. Examines work flow and revises processes as necessary to improve efficiency.
Able to organize and professionally manage demanding workload
Exhibits skills in information management such as log books, reports and computer use.
Direct office activities related to production of documents, workflow, filing, and ordering of supplies,
Participates in Lean activities as assigned.
Uses Trinity Management Business System to assist staff and patients, call out opportunities and problem solve.
Maintains knowledge of operation and function of hospital departments; serves as general informational resource of general public and hospital departments.
Accountable for a positive working relationship and the ability to work well with all levels of management, physicians, staff, as well as patients, visitors and outside clients.
External Customer Service skills – interacts professionally with patient/family.
Internal Customer Service skills – Maintains an effective working relationship both with UnityPoint Health staff and vendors.

Is knowledgeable of hospital and department compliance requirements for federally funded healthcare programs (e.g. Medicare and Medicaid) regarding fraud, waste and abuse. Brings any questions or concerns regarding compliance to the immediate attention of hospital administrative staff. Takes appropriate action on concerns reported by department staff related to compliance.

· High School graduate
Secretarial/hospital experience desirable.
· Read, Write, Comprehend, and Speak fluent English.
Knowledge of medical terminology desirable.
· Use of usual and customary equipment used to perform essential functions of the position.
· Perform other special projects and tasks as assigned.
