PRIMARY PURPOSE OF POSITION
The primary purpose of this position is to assist and provide support to Project Managers involved in the coordination and implementation of Electric Distribution, Transmission & Substation, and Industrial projects for Exelon Utilities or utility company Project Management organization with an orientation towards a career as Program/Project Manager. An essential element of the position involves developing skills in the functional activities involved in the implementation of utility projects.
Position may be required to work extended hours, including 24 x 7 coverage during storms or other energy delivery emergencies.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND ACCOUNTABILITIES
Support Project Management organization in coordinating activities related to all aspects of projects to ensure scope, schedule and dollars are met.
Work with engineering, construction and supporting departments along with contractors on verifying project milestones and/or action items are being for timely completion of projects.
Provide analytical and administrative support in the financial aspects of forecasting and accrual processes of utility company projects. Enter and/or monitor data or information as required by the Program and/or Project Manager(s)
Demonstrate continuous effort to improve work processes and work cooperatively to provide quality assistance. Create and maintain tracking and reporting of safety, performance related documents and training along with Capital Approval Process development.
Influences project decisions having a significant impact on the company.
Applies technical knowledge to help promote a safe work environment and to enhance customer satisfaction.
Support, coordinate, and lead Contract Management Supply Chain activities for Regional and Centrally Managed work with Contractors of Choice (COC).
Work with Project Managers to ensure work is procured appropriately and in compliance with Exelon’s established Procedures.
Partner with Exelon Strategic Sourcing Supply Organization as needed.
Execute ad-hoc projects, presentations, and reporting as requested.
Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering (or equivalent technical/engineering bachelor’s degree), project management or construction management and 2–5 years experience in distribution and/or transmission & substation construction, or in lieu of bachelor’s degree 6 – 9 years experience in distribution and/or transmission & substation construction is required.
Valid Driver’s license.
Skills in organizing and evaluating information and in proactively finding solutions for projects;
Strong oral and written communication and presentation skills.
Ability to multi-task across various types of activities and deliver quality work within the required timeframe.
Self-starter that can either work with a team or independently to drive results.
Clear understanding of management point-of-view and expectations
Technical Competencies and Helpful Skills:
Strong relationship management skills
Ability to read and understand project schedules, cost reports and performance reports
Knowledge of Microsoft programs – Word, Excel, Outlook and Access
Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering, project management or construction management
Knowledge of operating and construction work practices including Underground and/or Overhead as well as Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Demonstrated literacy in Asset Suite / Passport
Ability to support and enforce safe work behavior via knowledge of OSHA guidelines and regulations
Business and utility financial acumen, customer awareness, and ability to create value.
Ability to develop and implement process enhancements and efficiencies including technology and performance.
Adaptable to change
Ability to build rapport
