What you’ll learn & achieve:

You don’t just know the buzzwords: brand standards, big idea, concept, integrated campaign, environmental, social — you have an experienced and even passionate point of view about them in relation to a large portfolio of B2B and B2C brands. You’re excited to partner, design and lead with other creatives to bring our UL story to life in a design environment and throughout traditional and digital spaces.

You might have corporate experience; in fact, we hope you do. You definitely have agency experience, and you understand the discipline required to focus on clients first and shut out all that corporate blah-blah. You know how to design and mentor an art team, collaborate with copywriters, present your work to key internal stakeholders and [seemingly effortlessly] juggle all four on any given day. You love to design, ideate and love what you do.

We’re looking for a Creative Lead for UL’s In-House ‘Creative Studio’ to lead delivery of design/graphics production work. This role will:

  • Lead the creative process from concept to completion

  • Translate marketing objectives into clear creative strategies

  • Oversee client pitches and proposals Work closely with multidisciplinary project teams

  • Ensure visual communication and brand standards are met Oversee deliverables and timelines

  • Review work, troubleshoot and provide feedback to creative teams

  • Remain actively involved in training creative staff

  • Deliver tracking and implement continuous improvement

  • Lead by example and mentor young creatives

  • Implement processes

  • Support of Creative Strategy with the development of concepts, strategies and client presentations

  • Assure alignment and collaboration with designers

  • Deliver best practices and be an expert in social, video, environmental, digital, and print spaces.

  • Continuously push the boundaries of design innovation

  • Meet client objectives (solving and delivering work that answers the creative briefs, values, budgets and deadlines)

  • Direct the team from inception to final product

  • Supervises, as required, the work of more junior staff ensuring its accuracy and integrity to the project task and brief

  • Ensure resources are allocated according to project need​ and estimate number of hours needed per project

  • Ensure brand identity and message consistency across deliverables

  • Inspire clients and team members with great visual design and integrated campaign development

  • Lead and participate in brainstorming sessions​ and guideline share outs

  • Evaluate creative team performance with Creative Strategist & guiding improvements​

  • Assist in identifying and managing photographer, developers, videographers to ensure integrity of the final product against the brief

  • Works collaboratively with creative and project managers while directing members of team to ensure proper production of campaign elements

  • Contribute to educate and inspire team to merge the lines of print and digital

  • Grow our influence and presence internally

What makes you a great fit:

  • Strong online portfolio

  • A bachelor’s degree, design emphasis preferred.

  • 8 years or more of related experience or demonstrated competency

  • Highly proficient in Environmental Design

  • Highly proficient in Adobe Suite

  • Highly proficient in Print/Production

  • Strong conceptual skills and a solid knowledge of the digital landscape

  • The ability to distinguish strong ideation and conceptualization (art direction) vs. design

  • Strong artistic, design, composition and typographical skills

  • A keen eye for aesthetics and details

  • Ability to interact, communicate and present ideas

  • Excellent communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills advising colleagues and customers worldwide

  • Experience mentoring and managing creative talent with great visual design

  • Strong concept and execution development skills

  • Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously

  • Strong problem-solving skills

  • Ability to understand and articulate complicated concepts in a clear way

  • Strong attention to detail and process

  • Talent to inspire clients and team members with great visual design

  • Strong storyboarding and video ideation/concepting skills
