Summary

About the Position: The U.S. Military Entrance Processing Command, with headquarters in North Chicago, IL, is a jointly staffed command and is staffed by representatives of all branches of the Armed Forces. The command, through its 66 military Entrance Processing Stations (MEPS), determines whether applicants are qualified for enlistment based on standards set by each of the services. This position will be filled on a permanent basis.

Specialized Experience for GS-07: To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled including: Assisting Training Specialist and/or instructors in the administrative aspects of management of training activities; Maintaining course schedules for an organization; Adjusting training course schedules to meet organizational needs. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-06). Education Substitution for Specialized Experience for GS-07: Successful completion of one full year graduate education in a field (such as Education or Training and Development). (NOTE: you must attach a copy of your transcripts.).

Superior Academic Achievement: Successful completion of all the requirements for a bachelor's degree with Superior Academic Achievement. In order to be creditable under this provision, Superior Academic Achievement must have been gained in a curriculum that is qualifying for the position to be filled. Superior Academic Achievement is based on:(1) Class Standing - Applicants must be in the upper third of the graduating class in the college, university, or major subdivision, such as the College of Liberal Arts or the School of Business Administration, based on completed courses; OR (2) Grade-Point Average (G.P.A.) - Applicants must have a grade-point average of either (a) 3.0 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B" or better) as recorded on your official transcript, or as computed based on 4 years of education, or as computed based on courses completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum; or (b) 3.5 or higher out of a possible 4.0 ("B+" or better) based on the average of the required courses completed in the major field or the required courses in the major field completed during the final 2 years of the curriculum.; OR (3) Honor Society Membership - Applicants may be considered eligible based on membership in one of the approved national scholastic honor societies listed by the Association of College Honor Societies (https://www.achsnatl.org/).Grade point averages will be rounded to one decimal point. For example, 2.95 will round to 3.0, and 2.94 will round to 2.9.NOTE: If more than 10 percent of your undergraduate course work (credit hours) was taken on a pass/fail or similar basis, your S.A.A. claim must be based on class standing or membership in an honor society. Combination of Experience and Education Substitution for Specialized Experience for GS-07:If you have some, but not all, of the experience or education described above, you may still qualify by combining the amount of creditable experience and education that you possess. To compute the percentage of the requirements divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of graduate education by 18. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) Specialized Experience for GS-08: To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled including: Using automated systems to generate cumulative, statistical, tabular, narrative, and graphic reports for the training programs; Monitoring report accuracy of employees' training status; Verifying course completion and information for student diplomas for correctness; Assisting with the development of policies and procedures for the training program; Reviewing lesson plans for administrative accuracy; and Preparing materials needed for instructors/students for training classes. This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-07). Education Substitution for Specialized Experience for GS-08: Successful completion of one and a half years (27 semester hours) of graduate education leading in a field which demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to do the work of the position (such as Education or Training and Development). (NOTE: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) Combination of Experience and Education Substitution for Specialized Experience for GS-08: If you have some, but not all, of the experience or education described above you may still qualify by combining the amount of creditable experience and education that you possess. To compute the percentage, divide your total months of qualifying experience by 12. Then divide your semester hours of graduate education in excess of 18 hours by 9. Add the two percentages. The total percentage must equal at least 100 percent to qualify. (Note: You must attach a copy of your transcripts.) Specialized Experience for GS-09: To qualify based on your work experience, your resume must describe at least one year of experience which prepared you to do the work in this job. Specialized experience is defined as experience that is typically in or related to the work of the position to be filled including: Establishing training plans and programs for large and diverse organization; Assisting with curriculum development for training courses (i.e. syllabus, validation of course management documents, Individual Training Plans, training materials); Developing training content using various automation systems (i.e. Camtasia, Lectora, Turning Point, etc.); Reviewing course assessments to make improvements to training; Coordinating the production of workshops and conferences.This definition of specialized experience is typical of work performed at the next lower grade/level position in the federal service (GS-08). -Continued in Education Section-
