MarcFirst Direct Support Professional - FC in Normal, Illinois
Marcfirst's mission is to support people with developmental disabilities and their families in McLean County with opportunities to reach their full potential through a lifetime of meaningful services. Marcfirst is seeking qualified applicants who are passionate about serving their community and working with individuals with developmental disabilities.
Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) are critical to the success of our Residential Program, as they provide a variety of services to adults with developmental disabilities. These supports are meant to increase independence and overall life fulfillment.
FC is a co-ed Level II CILA (Community Integrated Living Arrangements), home for eight residents that require physical, behavioral, and medical supports. Individuals living in this home regularly participate in the Special Olympics, watch Law and Order SVU, and one resident has a cat. If this CILA home does not prove to be a good fit, applicants are considered for other locations in the Bloomington/Normal area.
As a DSP at FC, you would be responsible for the following:
Building relationships and encouraging community participation
Personal care, such as bathing, changing, and toileting
Fostering skill-building and working towards residents? individual goals
Other household tasks, such as cooking, cleaning, budgeting, and meal planning
Transporting residents to appointments, recreational events, and other outings
The following shift options are available to you:
Full-time ? 2nd shift or overnight, 30-40 hours per week
Part-time ? 1st and 2nd shift, 4-24 hours per week
Substitute ? varies
What we require:
Must be at least 18 years of age
High school diploma or GED
In order to drive, must provide a valid IL Driver?s License, with driving record in good standing in accordance with Marcfirst?s insurance policy (not suspended within the past 3 years, less than 3 violations within the past 3 years. ? Please contact HR with any questions)
Current automobile insurance (if applicable)
Ability to pass a state-required 8th grade literacy test
Completion of 2 references before you can begin working. These must be employment/professional. General computer knowledge
A desire to make a real difference in the lives of people with developmental disabilities
Under Illinois law, for certain positions we are mandated to do a criminal background check. Passing it will be required for those positions before a final job offer is made (Please contact HR with any questions).
Completion of a TB test and drug screen upon accepting job offer

Starting pay of $12.20, with a differential of an additional $0.50 for all shifts worked at this location.
