Description Position Purpose: The Senior Engineering Analyst (level 3) reports to Engineering Leadership and whose focus is performing independent evaluation, selection, and substantial adaptation and modification of standard techniques, procedures and criteria in carrying out a sequence of engineering tasks. This position works under a moderate to low level of supervision. Independent technical decisions on work are covered by precedents; this position seeks direction/guidance on novel or controversial problems. In addition, this position may participate in project-specific relationship building with Customers, Suppliers, individuals or organizations. Essential Functions: * Plans, schedules and coordinates detailed analysis phases of a project. Performs analysis of moderate to complex components and systems with minimal guidance. * Competent with basic analysis techniques. Devises new approaches to problems encountered. * Provides direction to level 1 and 2 Analysts. May mentor level 1 and 2 Analysts. Create self-development plan. * Participates in peer and design reviews. Review, critique, and edit reports. * Develop/improve techniques and tools to assist project and design engineering. Actively contribute the Woodward Engineering Manual. * Interacts with internal departments and customers to identify and mitigate design risks associated with their analysis discipline. * Creates analysis models to support robust and reliable designs. Validate model results against test data, identify any significant differences and source. * Writes reports and gives presentations to customers and internal management. * Demonstrates awareness of multiple customer requirements and defines analysis objectives which specifically addresses the requirements and verifies compliance. * Supports failure investigations. Other Functions: * Assist Test Engineering with test planning - gage location, gage ranging. * May participateinIRAD/special projects to develop novel technologies, or methods. * Active participant in failure investigations and development of effective corrective actions. RELIABILITY ANALYST: * Perform reliability analysis and predictions of complex subsystems, systems and software in accordance with MIL-STD-785, or similar. Assessments include failure rate predictions, failure mode and effects analysis, fault tree analysis, and common mode analysis * May perform maintainability analysis and predictions of complex subsystems and systems in accordance with MIL-HDBK-472, or similar. * Collect organize and product failure data from multiple sources and identify trends, lead or assist root cause investigations and corrective actions. * Plans and coordinates safety analysis in support of product development of complex subsystems, systems and software in accordance with MIL-STD-882, or similar.Support safety board reviews. * Support test readiness reviews.Develop reliability test procedures, and accelerated testing procedures. Materials and Equipment Used: * PC and realted equipment. ## Qualifications Knowledge/Skills/Abilities: * Working knowledge of standards and the ability to apply complex groupings of standards into designs. * Solidunderstanding of component function and testing requirements. Ability to interpret engineering data and drawings pertinent to focus role area. * Solid use of DFSS tools and methodologies; solid knowledge of engineering quality systems (PLC, engineering change, configuration management). * Effective time management skills.Able to manage multiple activities and competing priorities. * Participates in setting technical direction. * Advanced written/verbal communication skills and presentation skills; solid technical writing skills (procedures, reports, etc.). * Ability to effectively operate in the project team environment and communicate with customers. * Proficient use and understanding of computer aided engineering tools for reliability and maintainability prediction; Fault tree Analysis, failure modes and effects analysis. * Relex / Windchill Quality Solutions / Windchill Risk and Reliability Education or Formal Training: * Bachelor's degree in a Technical/Science or International equivalent required. * Master's degree in a Technical/Science or International equivalent desired. Experience Required: * Greater than 4 years professional engineering experience or a combination of experience and advanced degree required.
