Vernon, IL location is seeking highly self-motivated and passionate Maintenance Apprentices to join our Engineering & Maintenance group.

THE POSITION

Primary responsibility will be to support maintenance and engineering personnel on electrical, electronic, mechanical, and hydraulic systems. Apprentices must be able to work with maintenance staff on repairing of equipment and learn from the engineering and maintenance personnel how to maintain and repair that equipment (e.g. air leakages, oil leakages, welding). Work and training will take place in different maintenance areas in the plant.

  1. Work with Maintenance and Engineering personnel.

  2. Learn by and by how to install and maintain piping, both Ferris and Non-Ferris, screwed, welded, flanged or otherwise coupled; shut-offs, controls, check valves, traps, strainers, and all devises normally found in process and service piping.

  3. Learn to do machinist work, use common machine tools to cut, shape, form, etc. and other materials into shape.

  4. Assist in start-up of equipment for production purposes.

  5. Learn to troubleshoot, use common hand tools to adjust, replace worn and broken parts of a structural, rotating, reciprocating or running nature.

  6. Establish, maintain, and follow-up on plant wide lubrication schedule.

This is a part-time position:

20-28 hours during the semester, up to 40 hours during semester breaks at $15/hr.

Job Requirements

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

· High School degree with an overall GPA of 3.0 or better.

· Enrollment in technical college courses (e.g. Industrial Electronics).

· Legal authorization to work in the U.S. is required. We will not sponsor individuals for employment visas, now or in the future, for this job opening.

· Continental is not able to pay relocation expenses for this opportunity.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

· Previous manufacturing facility experience.
