Your Responsibilities

Job Responsibilities

As a Senior Software Engineer, for John Deere Information Systems (East Moline), you will design, build and deliver software for the products and components that makeup the Channel IT Dealer Management Systems product suite and be responsible for the technical implementation of the external integration points of certain systems within the product suite. In addition, you will:

  • Operate within an Agile team and participate in all aspects of that team's work regarding software analysis, development and testing

  • Contribute in all aspects of a team's technical practices such as selecting design solutions and leveraging industry standards for development practices within the team

  • Work regularly with management to establish product roadmaps, improve the product development process, and provide technical expertise to business leaders

  • Collaborate with Architecture, Analytics and other teams on strategic insights, product direction, scalability and integrations

  • Work alongside other team members in the development of a DevOps culture

  • Practices include but not limited to TDD, Automated Testing, XP, CI/CD, Monitoring

  • Guide and mentor other engineers in the team and review their work


Proven Technical Skills and Experiences

  • 5 or more years of experience in front-end development and JavaScript frameworks such as React, Angular, jQuery, or similar technologies

  • 4 or more years of experience in mobile app development (iOS and Android)

  • 2 or more years of experience with React Native

  • 5 or more years of experience in the design, development, testing and integration of high complex software solutions in Java web development with Spring and restful APIs

  • 8 or more years of understanding of applications development environment, database, data management and infrastructure capabilities and constraints

  • 3 or more years of proven experience in an Agile/Scrum team environment

  • 4 or more years of deep experience leveraging DevSecOps and lean development principles such as Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery

  • 4 or more years of working understanding of full-stack design patterns and designing loosely coupled architectures

  • 3 or more years of experience working with Test Driven Development and Unit Test Frameworks

    Interpersonal, Leadership and Teaming Competencies

  • Experience in cloud development with platforms like AWS or Azure

  • Skilled in interpersonal communications, negotiation, and conflict resolution

  • Proven experience providing technical coaching and mentoring to others

  • Proven strong leadership skill and experience, influence effectively, ability to resolve impediments in a timely manner

  • Learning Agility / Innovative - desire and openness for continuous technical learning and identifying areas for application

  • Knowledge of John Deere dealer service processes


Ideally, you will have a degree or equivalent work experience in the following:

  • Bachelor's degree in IT, Computer Science, Computer Engineering or equivalent experience in a related career field
