In addition you will: Maintain and improve upon existing safety and health related programs and activities.Identify and abate hazardous conditions or actions at plants that may cause injury, illness or property damage.Advise plant management to establish changes in safety objectives and plan programs to achieve objectives and integrate safety into the culture of the organization.Assist the region in managing safety programs, planning, organizing, budgeting, training and tracking execution of activities to achieve safety objectives or to implement administrative or technical controls that will eliminate or reduce hazards.Develop and empower safety committees at each facility to support the plant safety programConduct or support investigations of incidents.Work with engineering to control hazards such as noise, chemical exposures, or biological hazards that can create harm.Ensure that any dangerous chemicals and other products are procured, stored, and disposed of in ways that prevent fires, exposure to or harm from these substances.Ensure that there are procedures in place to protect from any undesirable releases of harmful materials into the air, water or soil.Liaise and support customer audits and audits conducted by third parties.Organize, train and coordinate skilled employees with regard to emergencies such as fires, accidents, rescues, natural disasters, first aid, CPR or other incidents.Attend training sessions, seminars, etc. to keep abreast of new or changing regulationsMay have access to proprietary and third party information necessary to the business and as such will perform duties in an ethical and professional manner.Must be able to travel within the region up to 60-75 percent of the time. We are seeking candidates with the following qualifications: Education: A Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience required. A degree in safety, Safety and Environmental Management preferred.Experience: 3+ years' experience in managing safety, health, and environment issues and conducting accident investigations.Must have working knowledge of Federal OSHA and EPA regulations.Experience in ISO 14001 and/or 18001 preferred.Extensive experience in the development and facilitation of training classes.Excellent problem solving skills. Language Skills - Must be able to communicate effectively in English, orally and in writing Ability to conduct in person and web-based training courses.This position requires a team oriented individual who has strong i nterpersonal skills with people at all levels.A valid driver's license is required as in this role driving to multiple locations is essential. Position requires extensive traveling/road warrior within the assigned territory.Must be able to communicate effectively in English, orally and in writing.Knowledge and hands on experience of computer applications including Microsoft Office and databases is required.
