Prairie State Generating Co., LLC Sr. Financial Analyst - Corporate in Marissa, Illinois

Responsible for effective, efficient, and complete business analysis of financial statements, major cost streams, and key performance indicators. Analyze forecasts for commodities, materials & supplies, and coal inventory. Investigate budget variances and coordinate explanations to management. Subject matter expert on Corporate department financials, preparing standard monthly reports and analyses, and coordinating budgets and forecasts.

Essential duties and responsibilities include:

  • Provide daily support to Manager, Finance and Analysis in all reporting, analysis, and continuous improvement activities.

  • Provide support to Plant, Mine, and Corporate Controllers for a wide variety of analysis needs.

  • Contribute to monthly closing process via preparation of journal entries, generation reports, allocation management, campus accruals, KPI reporting, capital project reporting, et al.

  • Corporate cost management – prepare monthly department variance reports, participate in monthly reviews with department managers, prepare accurate forecasts, and serve as a key point of contact and support.

  • Materials & Supplies Inventory – support Operations via monthly analysis and reporting (trending, obsolescence, forecasting, reconciliations).

  • Perform Financial Statement analysis (budget/forecast variances, cost/quantity variances), including the identification of root causes for select variances among budgeted, forecasted, and actual results.

  • Directly support the design, development, and maintenance of performance reports including dashboards, KPI’s, and web communications.

  • Participate in preparation of monthly presentation files for PSGC leadership and relevant Owner Committees.

  • Monitor and analyze commodities usage, outage and repairs & maintenance project costs, coal combustion residual activity, overtime worked, etc., as required.

  • Identify, quantify, and formally communicate risks and opportunities with respect to forecasted business performance.

  • Assist in the support of internal and external audits.

  • Recommend and implement measures to improve processes, enhance intelligence, and increase service and value to Operations.

  • Complete special projects and non-routine assignments as required.

  • Will have access to personal, confidential, and financial information.

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited four-year college or university in accounting or finance, with a minimum of three years of experience.

  • CPA/MBA preferred.

Knowledge of

  • Principles of financial and accounting policies and procedures (GAAP) in a continuous process or mining environment.

  • Managerial Finance
