Horizon Therapeutics Staff Accountant in Lake Forest, Illinois

Responsibilities:

  • Performs month/year-end close activities, including preparing, reviewing and assessing journal entries, accruals, reconciliations and allocations to ensure all Horizon Therapeutics financial transactions are properly recorded.

  • Compiles and analyzes financial information to prepare entries to General Ledger accounts; assists with maintenance of strong internal controls and process documentation.

  • Provides relevant, accurate, and timely data and information that anticipates and exceeds internal and external customer needs.

  • Assists in preparing and analyzing the quarterly forecasts.

  • Prepares audit schedules for internal/external auditors and participates in annual review and testing of Sarbanes Oxley controls to ensure compliance.

  • Maintain knowledge of functional area and document policies and procedures.

  • Provide feedback to management concerning possible problems or areas of improvement. Make recommendations to implement improved processes.

  • Analyzes financial information to summarize and interpret current-projected Company financial position for management while maintaining confidentiality; presents financial information for decision making.

  • Works on special assignments and ad-hoc reporting and accounting projects as assigned by management.

Qualifications and Skills Required:

  • BS degree in accounting.

  • 3+ years of prior accounting experience.

  • CPA and public accounting experience strongly desired.

  • Experience with a major ERP financial system, particularly SAP, is a plus.

  • Advanced knowledge of Excel.

  • Proactive professional with excellent leadership, and problem-solving capabilities.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office.

  • Professional and proactive demeanor.

  • Strong interpersonal skills.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
