Sparklight OSP Fiber Splice Mapping Specialist in Harrisburg, Illinois


Clearwave Communications, a Cable One brand, is hiring an OSP Splice Mapping Engineer, for our Harrisburg office. The OSP Splice Mapping Specialist creates and records the virtual representation of the Clearwave physical fiber and splicing plant. This position generates engineering change orders (ECO), maintains accurate records of the outside fiber plant, and creates and tracks central office and HUB fiber and port assignments.

    How you will contribute to the Company’s success:

  • Produce and record all documentation involved in fiber splicing including but not limited to: as-built maps, construction maps, scaled planned draws, route planning maps and Right of Way (ROW) drawing.

  • Collaborates with Networking Operations Center (NOC) and Networking Engineers to ensure viable fiber paths and ports.

  • Provides managers and Engineering team status updates on open projects.

  • Views, records and creates detailed fiber networks documents and records using OSPInsight, Crescentlink, etc.

  • Works with service delivery department to coordinate splicing schedule.

  • Takes on other duties needed to help drive our Purpose, fulfill our Brand Principles, and abide by our Organization's Values.

    What you’ll need to succeed in this role:

  • 3 years experience with GIS systems and mapping

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).

  • Associates degree preferred.

  • Must have good attention to detail and highly organized.

  • Excellent troubleshooting ability

  • Ability to visualize and conceptualize large area network planning.

  • Ability to work nights and weekends, or variable schedule, as necessary.

  • Ability to work with a wide variety of people and build collaborate relationships.

  • Solid team interaction.

  • Ability to use Google Earth, Adobe, GIS and CAD programs.

  • Ability to read and write fiber industry drawings and designs.

  • Positive attitude.

  • Must display strong work ethic and dependability.
