Children's Home and Aid Trauma-Informed Occupational Therapist in Evanston, Illinois


Every three minutes, someone contacts Children's Home & Aid for help with children of all ages to heal their hurts. In our Residential Services, we work to stabilize traumatized children as soon as possible, help them heal, and get them back into safe, loving homes.

The Rice Child & Family Center is proud to be expanding our trauma-informed services to now include an Occupational Therapist, who will support the healing of children receiving residential services. The Trauma-Informed Occupational Therapist provides highly specialized, intensive treatment which re-wires the brain and helps children process the trauma that is stored in their bodies. As the Trauma-Informed Occupational Therapist, you will work as part of a comprehensive and collaborative treatment team that aims to provide holistic, strengths-based services designed to successfully transition youth into a less restrictive environment within 18 months.

Trauma-Informed Occupational Therapist responsibilities include:

  • Develop individualized treatment and transition plans for each child.

  • Work with the treatment team to implement a range of trauma-informed occupational therapy services.

  • Provide clinical consultation to other treatment team members and outside stakeholders.

  • Support pre- and post-transition planning processes and services involving the child’s family to promote stable, permanent placements.

  • Comply with Medicaid standards of practice and documentation.

  • Coordinate services with other agencies, systems and community providers to meet the needs of clients.


  • Graduate or Doctorate level degree in Occupational Therapy required.

  • Clinical licensure in the field of Occupational Therapy, or eligibility for licensure within 2 years of employment, required.

  • Familiarity with the impact of trauma on the emotional and physical functioning of children required.

  • Experience working in a residential treatment setting a plus.

  • A valid driver’s license required and auto insurance required.
