Citigroup VP, Finance in Elk Grove Village, Illinois

Role and Responsibilities:

  • Lead business-wide, Finance transformation projects

  • End-user computing optimization – initiative leadership; consolidation, automation, retirement

  • Robust competitive analysis production – historical peers, fintech players, fringe participants

  • Refinement of portfolio-level operations and technology cost allocation methodology

  • Other analyses and projects, as needed

  • Provide leadership to sales tax recovery process

  • Manage financial planning and analysis process – development of annual Plan and updated forecasts, review of actuals and analysis of variances, oversight of balance sheet reserves and coordination of changes to state-based reserve requirements

  • Collaborate with partners and internal teams to develop and implement partner-level strategies, execute on data/reporting requirements, and ensure partner payment of proceeds received from Citi-initiated refund claims

  • Serve as primary point-of-contact with external counsel supporting sales tax recovery process – address strategic/execution issues, review and approve invoices and data transfer requests, coordinate generation and submission of state audit requests

  • Drive negotiation of contractual language for new partner agreements, with respect to the sales tax recovery process. Also, participate in portfolio conversion testing, to ensure reporting is both accurate and available

  • Lead problem-solving across the sales tax domain, when necessary

  • Drive ad-hoc and ongoing business-level analysis

  • Perform quarterly FAS107 valuation analysis, in support of Citi financial reporting requirements

  • Examples of previous analyses: CRS LLC valuation in support of unwind of participation agreement, operational loss sizing, portfolio acquisition and new partner pricing

Skills Required:

  • Analytical – synthesize data and processes to answer key business questions; translate and align overall business goals to specific projects and actions

  • Communication/Influence – convert quantitative analytics into qualitative recommendations and influence leadership decisions; develop informative presentations which are both professional and message-focused

  • Drive/Initiative – lead projects from conception through implementation; drive teams to adhere to ambitious timetables

  • Financial Modeling - be able to create and improve upon financial models, including usage of current and next-gen tools

  • Relationship Building – work across functional teams in order to create and deliver effective results; network with geographically dispersed stakeholders

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of products, including Excel and Powerpoint

Education and/or Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred

  • 6-10 years of corporate experience, credit card industry preferred
