Plan and supervise play and learning activities, assist in the supervision of Child Development Program students assigned to the Center and assist with daily operations of the Center. Basic Duties:This list is meant to be representative, not exhaustive. Some incumbents may not perform all the duties listed while in other cases related duties may also be assigned. Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.1. Supervise children in the Child Center during play, meals and rest periods.2. Plan and carry out daily lessons to include physical, mental and social growth activities within respective age groups.3. Orient student teachers to the Center's schedule and procedures.4. Keep parents informed about classroom happenings and the growth and development of their children through notes and conferences, weekly lesson plans, and newsletters.5. Work with the Child Care Center Manager and others regarding special problems of individual children and in staffing for exceptional children.6. Assist in maintaining records required by DCFS licensing standards and by the College.7. Monitor the general upkeep and cleanliness of the Center.8. Provide tours and explain Center's operations and services to individuals, group visitors and observers, in absence of Manager.9. Promote appropriate parent-school-public relationships by meeting with prospective families and enrolling children in the programs, in absence of Manager.10. Report to manager any need for work orders for maintenance, repairs and necessary custodian services or call Facilities for emergencies in the absence of manager.11. Ability to:Provide leadership in child development activities.Create healthy food plans.Maintain a clean working environment.Communicate effectively verbally and in writing.Operate a PC and related software.Maintain effective working relationships with other people. Education and/or Experience:Any combination of education and experience that demonstrates possession of the requisite knowledge, skill and abilities.
