Director, Research Information Solutions

What will I be doing?

The Director, Research Information Solutions will be the subject matter expert for research information solutions in the US market. The Director will collect and bring the relevant trends and competitive developments to help form Ex Libris’ product strategy. The director will work closely with the Esploro (Ex Libris’ product) the product director, and the sales organization to help with pre-sales activities, and with the customer success organization for customer engagement actions. The work includes interactions with market analysts, other companies and of course academy – Researchers, research office employees and Librarians.

In this position, you will also…• Provide deep understanding and analysis for the business of the impact and opportunities in the RIM ( Research Information Management)• Take part in the definition and execution of the RIM strategy• Lead the Esploro CRIS (current research information solution) development partners plan, which includes help in recruiting the partners, maintain ongoing discussions and feedback and help with implementation and engagement strategies for the customers.• Engage with industry lead stakeholders at a senior level (policymakers, funders, publishers, universities, librarians, researchers) to understand the evolving landscape.• Demonstrate the product value in-depth to help in pre-sales activities.• Consult with existing customers on how to best utilize the product and what actions should they take in the university for successful implementation. • Define and help universities with internal “selling” of the product to all relevant stakeholders.• Deliver public-facing thought leadership and product-specific sessions on this topic by representing Ex Libris at industry events, and with key customers.

Qualified Candidates must have…• 10 or more years relevant work experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. • Demonstrate expert-level Customer Relationship Management Experience (CXM) - demonstrated ability to manage highly complex customer questions and concerns for all products in the portfolio. • Effective communication and active listening skills to assess and understand customer concerns of high complexity, able to leverage resources to address concern and effectively deliver a response to the customer. Seeks support and escalates as needed.• Highly proficient in understanding critical business drivers - sees actions within the context of Business Unit or Enterprise. • Strong ability to influence and persuade – inspiring trust and confidence in team or functional group. Able to communicate vision and translate to expectations to team or functional group.• Effectively collaborate with Sales and CXM teams to achieve goals•Possess one of the two:1) Professional experience in product or pre-sales roles in companies from the field 2) Professional experience in Research Office setting

Other important information about this position:• This position is REMOTE or can be based out of Ann Arbor, Michigan, Des Plaines, IL, Bethesda Maryland, Alexandria Virginia, New Providence, New Jersey offices. • Travel is required (approximately 20%).• This position requires weekday (Monday - Friday) attendance with some scheduling flexibility available around core working hours. • Every position requires certain physical capabilities.
