Job Summary:

Under the direction of Anil Lal, Executive Director, the individual will be responsible for assisting clinical physics faculty and staff at UIC with maintaining, repairing and quality assurance on Varian Truebeam, 21EX Accelerators, and Philips Big Bore CT Scanner.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist medical physicists with engineering/physics projects.
  • Run daily operation of radiation oncology department machines including start up, maintenance, calibration and quality assurance checks.
  • Performs QA/QC of imaging equipment and procedures.

Competencies:

  • Performs QA/QC of imaging equipment and procedures required.
  • Analog and digital electronics and microprocessors required.
  • C language programming, Op Amps digital signal processing and calculus required.
Additional Requirements​​

Education, Experience, or Certifications:

Education:

  • Bachelor in Engineering or Master Degree in related field is required.

Experience:

  • At least 1 year of experience in equipment maintenance required.
  • Acquiring data used for implementing new clinical physics procedures required.
  • QA of imaging equipment required
  • Knowledge of Programming (phyton, java) preferred.
  • Performs treatment planning for new procedures preferred.
  • Ion chamber, film and TLD measurements for patient dosimetry and/or to validate treatment planning systems preferred.
  • film dosimetry in phantom with use of ionization chambers preferred
