The Job: The Internal Communications Graduate Intern will coordinate a range of Internal Communications activities, interfacing with internal clients, to develop, design and execute a restructuring of the internal communications function. The role will also seek to increase employee awareness, understanding, and engagement while inspiring multi-directional communication across multiple channels and supporting change management initiatives.

This is a paid internship with a part-time schedule (20 hours/ week), planned to start in late April and run for 10 weeks.

Responsibilities:

  • Conduct extensive research on internal communication program best practices

  • Execute cross-departmental interviews to:

  • Gather and analyze the current state of internal communications

  • Complete a stakeholder analysis

  • Create an internal communications strategy considering audience segmentation, channels, tactics, organizational readiness needs, process, and governance.

  • Research, develop and present proposed MSI internal communication strategy

  • Co-create internal communications image and template alignment with Marketing brand standards

  • Develop communications effectiveness measurement.

Through this internship you will:

  • Apply the principles of internal communication in a non-profit organization

  • Develop a full project plan focusing on organizational restructure

  • Further develop communication, time-management, organization, and relational skills in a professional environment

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor?s degree required

  • Current enrollment in graduate degree program with a focus in Communications, Organizational Change, Business Management, Human Resources, or related degree required

  • Ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously and independently

  • Strong collaborator who works well independently or on team projects

  • Detail-oriented with the ability to work well under pressure and meet deadlines

  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills (must be able to produce writing samples)

  • High level of initiative and exceptional problem-solving skills
