Google Finance Program Manager, Payments in Chicago, Illinois

Minimum qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Economics, Business, Accounting or equivalent practical experience

  • 7 years of relevant work experience

  • Ability to travel as required

Preferred qualifications:

  • 4 years of experience in a systems, operations or global program management role in Payments, FinTech or Banking Industry

  • Experience successfully working in an ambiguous, cross-functional, and fast-paced environment

  • Deep understanding of accounting, Finance operations, payments processing, systems, internal controls, requirements documentation and testing validation

  • Demonstrated ability to manage complex large-scale programs with multiple work-streams and senior stakeholders

  • Ability to effectively prioritize and drive multiple initiatives, dive into the details and adapt messaging and presentations to the technical level of an audience

  • Excellent problem-solving, process improvement, communication, and risk assessment skills

The goal of our team is to support Google Payments, including the enhancement of the Google Payments Platform, forms of Payment expansion and Payments Product launches, including Google Pay. The team works on a wide variety of projects which require accounting, financial reporting, billing and other operational processes to enable Payments Product growth globally at scale.

Our main business partner is the Google Payments team that invests in a number of initiatives, including: Consumer, Merchant, Platform, and Financial Services.

In this role, you will engage key stakeholders across Google Payments to ensure quality, compliant, scalable launches, which deliver incremental growth for users and Google. You have a passion for payments, along with a keen desire to dig into the details of how new products and forms of payments should be implemented to meet ongoing accounting and Finance operational requirements.

  • Partner with Payments Product Managers, Payments Engineering, Payments Business Development, Payments FP&A, Payments Controllership and other Finance teams in the support of Payments Product launches and Forms of Payment (FOP) expansion.

  • Work with cross-functional leadership to ensure appropriate prioritization, resourcing and engagement on Payments related initiatives. Collaborate with cross-functional teams in the design of system features, operational processes, definition of financial accounting and operational implications, implementation of controls and monitor of post-launch performance.

  • Identify and escalate issues and risks that may jeopardize product success.

  • Capture post-launch learnings to optimize, scale and develop Payments Products and Platform through collaboration with product, and other internal Finance teams.

  • Identify gaps and issues across the Payments Platform and create programs and process improvements to solve them.
