If this describes you, you may be the right candidate for the Epi Research Assistant position in the Rush Preventive Medicine Department !

Position Highlights :

Entry level position in the EPI/ translational research family. The Research Assistant will assist with studies funded by the National Institutes of Health and the American Lung Association to develop a new smoking cessation treatment for COPD patients. Specific responsibilities include assisting with clinic-based study recruitment, conducing in-person and phone-based study assessments, and maintaining study records. The Research Assistant will also have the opportunity to contribute to abstracts for presentation at scientific conferences and/ or manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals.. Position Responsibilities :

  1. May recruit, screen and schedule potential study participants.

  2. Utilizes approved informed consent and HIPAA procedures.

  3. Administers involved, systematic tests and questionnaires including the assessment of participant eligibility, level of function, and/or response to intervention(s) according to research study protocols.

  4. Helps maintain study procedure documentation.

  5. Prepares study related materials.

  6. May assist with data entry, cleaning and guided analysis.

  7. Monitors study participants as required by study protocol.

  8. Maintains supply inventory.

  9. May utilize study-related devices and equipment as part of assessment procedures.

  10. Maintains study records and edits for completeness and accuracy.

  11. Attends regular team meetings.

  12. Troubleshoots field issues when necessary. Uses discretion to resolve issues when unplanned events arise.

Position Qualifications Include :

· Some college with prior data collection experience required. Bachelor’s Degree highly preferred. If degreed, no prior experience required

· Prior work with research study protocols preferred

· Detail oriented with high attention to accuracy

· Demonstrates basic computer skills

· Strong written and verbal communications

· Ability to develop rapport with a diverse pool of research participants

· Ability to navigate sensitive topics and maintain confidentiality of participants

· Ability to collaborate within multi-disciplinary team settings

· May require 6-8 weeks training depending on study protocols

· Availability to work evenings, overnight and weekends if called for under the study protocols

· May require personal transportation to field
