Directing a multi-disciplinary Design Team, you will work closely with Product Management, Sales and Marketing, and Engineering teams across a broad set of products and platforms. We're looking for a driven and innovative individual to help create a consistent user experience for all the Viasat products and services, from enterprise-grade applications to consumer-facing apps and services, who's comfortable working across the whole design process.You'll bring the following to the role:*Experience in creative leadership and people management, coaching designers at all levels*Experience partnering with Product, Engineering, and Commercial leaders to define product features, roadmaps, and strategy.*Experience building a user-centered, test and learn design culture, and working to embed those practices within product teams*Experience leading design teams to both explore new features and iterate existing ones at pace*The knowledge that your success is linked to the team's success.*Experience delivering great customer-centric products and services as an active practitioner and team leader.*A willingness to roll up your sleeves and demonstrate by doing when needed.*Experience leading multiple teams at the same time, providing direction and support at different stages of the process concurrently.*Expertise in both Research and Design best practices.*Experience delivering mass-market consumer products, across multiple countriesBy month 3 you'll:*Be leading teams of designers in a fast-growing environment, hiring, and managing performance.*Have experienced our products from the perspective of different types of users*Be demonstrating how effective product strategy is shaped to functions including Eng, PM, Care, Sales, Analytics.*Be partnering with leaders of other functions (Eng, PM, Care, Sales, Analytics) to ensure teams are working effectively.*Have a solid understanding of the segment's commercial dynamics and how design can help drive business success.*Be developing team plans and priorities, holding them accountable for outputs and outcomes.*Be leading teams of designers and researchers and oversee Product discovery, design, and deployment.*Be motivating and inspiring the team to grow, learn, succeed, and do their best work.By month 6 you'll: *Be defining vision and strategy for products in partnership with business and product leaders.*Be shaping our hiring plan for new designers and the development plans for current team members*Be briefing 3rd party agencies/contractors around specific projects and overseeing their work*Be representing Viasat Design internally, sharing your expertise*Be measuring the impact and outcomes of the team and communicating them out appropriately. *Be collaborating closely with other Design leaders (across other business segments) to evolve the global Product Design function, our culture, structure, processes, and beliefs.By month 12 and beyond you'll: *Be representing Viasat Design externally, growing awareness of our team, approach, culture, etc.*Be identifying and resolving operational and organizational problems.*Be making decisions- guided by segment business plans-that impact the support and funding of projects.To learn more about this site and other office locations, please click here!#LI-BBSAdditional Requirements and informationMinimum education:NoneYears of experience:8-15 yearsTravel:Up to 10%Citizenship:NoneClearance:NoneWorker Classification:Employee https://www.eeoc.gov/employers/upload/eeoc\_self\_print\_poster.pdf
