Responsible for collection and tracking of chemical and bacterial samples, preparation of sampling materials, and conduct basic chemical and bacterial analyses.
Collection and tracking of chemical and bacterial samples. Work to promptly inform internal customers of sample issues. (85%)
Assist in maintaining, stocking, and distributing laboratory supplies within budget (10%)
Prepare samples for analysis within method required holding times. Conduct basic chemical analysis such as turbidity, wet chemistry methods, and UV254. General upkeep of the laboratory environment, including maintaining glassware, reagent preparation, Understand and follow all QA/QC protocols to assist the laboratory in meeting EPA and accrediting authority standards. Knowledge of basic chemistry and laboratory techniques; knowledge of QA/QC programs; familiar with EPA, NELAC, and OSHA rules and regulations.
One year of lab experience preferred.
Associates Degree in science related field required.
Technical training equivalent or additional relevant experience may be substituted for Associates Degree.
Primarily an outdoor/indoor environment. Sampling is primarily conducted indoors but some outside sampling is required. Sampling is conducted in all-weather conditions and requires driving between sites. Laboratory work will require periods of standing while performing bench top work, working with lab instruments and sitting for computer entry indoors. Some lifting necessary.
