BD (Becton, Dickinson and Company) Production Technician – Proteus in Carol Stream, Illinois

Job Description SummaryThe Production Technician – Proteus works in the manufacturing department and is responsible for the assembly of quality products efficiently, accurately, safely and on time. Utilizes assembly equipment and in-process instrumentation to manufacture and package medical devices in accordance with current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), company policy and safety regulations. Utilizes experience to optimize process performance and identify areas of continuous improvement. Position requires direct supervision or oversight by a senior employee. # Job Description ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES including the following: + Perform a variety of routine and complex duties in the manufacturing and configuration of finished product including: - Operate custom manual and automated equipment - Performing in-process tests - Measuring and assaying finished product - Assemble and package medical devices - Operate radiation detection equipment - Operate applicable departmental safety equipment - Recording manufacturing data + Maintain a clean and safe work environment + Stock and replenish supplies as necessary + Works with chemical solutions during processing and testing + Perform routine operational maintenance, troubleshooting activities and calibration of equipment as required + Assist with debug and validation of processing equipment + Follow established manufacturing procedures, inventory control procedures and Quality System Regulations + Follow established Safety and Health Physics procedures and regulations and monitor day to day compliance of department personnel and identify areas of continuous improvement + Work as a team with other technicians to ensure downtimes are kept to a minimum and improve operational efficiencies + Inform Production Team Leader, Production Supervisor, Engineering or Senior Management of any problems pertaining to production, parts, equipment, processes, and procedures + Helps monitor or track daily production activities to improve such things as quality, safety, customer service, and costs + Maintain regular and predictable attendance + Perform other duties as needed within the facility QUALIFICATIONS To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE Required + High school diploma or equivalent + Basic computer skills + Strong organizational skills and attention to detail + Associate degree with scientific emphasis OR 3 – 5 years of equivalent experience in a technical or scientific laboratory production environment Preferred + Bachelor of science degree + Chemistry background and/or laboratory experience + Experience in a laboratory or laboratory production environment + Experience in a pharmaceutical or pharmacy related environment + Experience in medical device production environment + Experience in handling small parts + Experience with troubleshooting techniques + Experience handling low-level radioactive materials + Licensed User of radioactive materials or eligible to become Licensed User + Previous experience in a FDA regulated environment LANGUAGE SKILLS Ability to accurately understand and follow both oral and written instructions in English and to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, employees and others. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS Necessary mathematical abilities include addition, subtraction, multiplication and division, as well as operations with numbers in scientific notation, units and unit conversions are required. Ability to apply concepts of algebra and geometry are necessary. REASONING ABILITY Ability to read and interpret data to reach a sound decision; read, interpret, and relay department requirements to other areas or staff.
