As a Vehicle Electronics Organization team member, the Electrical Component Engineer is globally responsible for the design, validation, and application of sensors (standard sensors, advanced sensors, radars, and cameras) and electronic components into Agriculture and Construction Equipment Product Lines. They will support global systems and application engineering teams and lead issue resolutions using disciplined problem-solving methodologies. The Electrical Component Engineer will manage suppliers and provide component product development oversight.

Responsibilities

n

n

n

+ Lead component engineering activities which includes research, development, and co-development of components, typically using a strategic subset of global supply chain partners.

n

+ Collect hardware requirements from global cross-functional teams.

n

+ Author component level technical specifications governing functional and performance requirements.

n

+ Review supplier component design documentation, including schematic, worst case circuit analysis, printed circuit board layout, DFMEA, component and ergonomic styling.

n

+ Review and approve supplier component validation test plans and reports.

n

+ Review supplier component failure analysis reports.

n

+ Manage the component supplier throughout the development, validation and production phases.

n

+ Develops, tests and implements engineering change requests (ECRs) for design revisions.

n

+ Analyzes and evaluates new or improved electronic/electrical components.

n

+ Designs, fabricates, tests, implements and modifies electronic/electrical components, products and systems.

n

+ Establishes test procedures and systems for inspection of electronic/electrical components.

+ Responsible for technology roadmaps and commodity/supplier strategies

n

+ Participate in problem resolutions of components utilizing industry known best practices such as 8D, and 5Why,

n

+ Responsible for preparation of designs, layouts and drawings for component developments and/or improvements

n

+ Supports application, sub system and system engineering teams with preparation of reports

n

+ Responsible in the facilitation of communication between engineering, purchasing, manufacturing, quality and other functional areas within multi-disciplinary product development team environments,

n

+ Responsible for Design Of Experiments and Design Validation testing, as well as, the recognition and recommendation of design and validation gaps covering existing Off The Self technologies and custom developed hardware,

n

+ Supplier technical liaison

+ Responsible for internal customer satisfaction, documenting processes and best practices as well as reviewing detailed engineering drawings and releasing parts production procurement for global operations,

n

+ Responsible for recommendation and implementation of test equipment, disassemble experimental components, oversight of corrective actions and ownership in determining the cause of failures and/or travel to supplier sites as needed to facilitate communication between engineering and suppliers,

n

+ Responsible for the reporting and implementation of improvements to product engineering teams for execution based on knowledge gained through cross-functional interactions at the suppliers,

+ Responsible for the coordination of new product development projects and their progress, interfacing regularly with suppliers to ensure timely delivery of components and compliance to company requirements, specifications, standards and 2D/3D engineering documentation, interacting directly with interval customer agreeing on packaging constraints and technical requirements as well as drive required timing of delivery

+ Maintain and communicate component development status and risk to management and vehicle customers.

n

+ Define/Communicate/deploy component specific integration/installation requirements

n

+ Support vehicle level signoff of component installation at various project milestones.

n

+ Produces project status reports and provides frequent team progress updates to direct supervisor and relevant project managers.

n

+ Creates, maintains and manages component develop project plans
