Description (Internal and External)

• Oversee all delivery and warehouse functions for Illinois such as shipping, receiving, distribution, inventory, returns, and customer relations for all Illinois warehouses and depots

o Direct warehousing and delivery activities for organization by performing the following duties personally or through direct reports

• Manage and establish operational procedures for activities such as verification of incoming and outgoing shipments, handling & disposition of materials, keeping warehouse inventory current and delivering all outgoing customer orders and transfers

• Inspect physical condition of warehouse equipment and delivery vehicles

• Daily walkthrough of the facility. Address unacceptable conditions from both a safety and housekeeping perspective.

• Spend time on the floor to be accessible to employees

• Regular visits to depots

• Ensure repairs and requisitions for replacement of equipment and delivery vehicles are executed following established procedures

• Review and reconcile warehouse, delivery, and occupancy (payable) invoices with accounting department

• Confer with department heads to ensure coordination of warehouse activities and deliveries with activities of other functions such as sales, customer service, demand planning, and logistics

o Work closely with sales management to coordinate sales deliveries and customer service

• Track and monitor warehouse and delivery production and work to achieve established metrics goals like NOIP & MIP

• Communicate with various corporate departments and execute initiatives such as D.O.T., Fleet and Safety, Success Factors, SEPODS, ELD, Training.

• Be a champion and leader for local initiatives and events like Lean Six Sigma, Green Business Association designation, Elite Driver’s Dinner, Mixers, Driver Rodeo, Company Picnic etc.

• Manage and coordinate:

o Salvage/disposition of damaged or used material

o Planning personnel safety and plant protection activities

o Delivery methods and Delivery schedules

o Receipt of incoming shipments

o Ensure timely and accurate slotting of product and material and proper disposition of other incoming deliveries

• Assist in coordinating physical inventories and or cycle counting

• Ensure Facility Manager is effectively managing maintenance personnel on repair, installation and preventative maintenance

• Directly supervise union and non-union employees in warehouse & delivery in all Illinois warehouses and depots

• Understanding of Union Contracts, MOU’s, time and attendance policy

• Maintain relationships with shop stewards and business agents and actively participate in JLM’s & Grievance meetings

• Assist in development of motivational programs for increased efficiencies and accuracy of operations

• Review procedures for warehouse and delivery functions and drive changes for increased efficiency and service

• Carry out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws

• Interview, hire and train employees

• Appraise performance and create development plans

• Reward and discipline employees

• Address complaints and resolve problems

Qualifications

Qualifications (Internal and External)

• Bachelor’s degree OR equivalent thereof in related experience

• 5 or more years warehouse management experience in distribution or logistics management of wholesale beverages, food service, or wholesale grocery products

• Experience as a manager of a management team and 50+ employees

• Experience with an Operating System with WMS systems and conveyor shipping software

• Strong computer skills in all Microsoft application

• Strong leadership, communication (both written and oral), customer service and interpersonal skills

• Union Experience desirable

• Ability to lift 50 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 100 pounds

Additional Desired Qualifications (Internal and External)

• Experience in distribution of alcoholic beverages.

• Six Sigma or other process improvement training and certifications

• Ability to drive various pieces of warehouse equipment.

• Safety certifications
